Only one species in this family was found so far in the kororā diet: Graham’s gudgeon Grahamichthys radiatus or kurahina. It was also identified in the diet studies examining the hard-parts of stomach contents from kororā living at Oamaru (Fraser and Lalas 2004, Flemming et al. 2013). It is an endemic species to New Zealand and is widespread in the coastal waters of the North and South Island and Stewart Island. Juveniles form large schools in surface waters. As they mature, they become benthic (bottom-dwelling) and are found in depths of 1-80m. They can grow to 6cm long.
