Highlights:
It is difficult to find scats in autumn because often the kororā are moulting and therefore fasting and are not leaving behind scat, or they have completed their moult and are in “holiday” mode spending a lot of time at sea and less time ashore.
Anchovies were important in the samples from Tiritiri Matangi, Kaiteriteri, Wellington and the West Coast, but not in the sample from Leigh where Pilchard dominated.
The sample with the most fish families represented was from Allans Beach where over half of the RRA was from Barracouta, cockabullies made a comeback and some Lanternfishes.
