2025/26 year
This sample had almost exclusively Pilchard (red) and a little bit of Anchovies (blue), but the overall amount of DNA was low – so this is possibly not representative. It is quite different to the previous summer’s result because no other fish and non-fish prey was detected, even in small quantities.
2024/25 year
Pilchard (red) was the most important prey with Anchovies (blue) also recorded. “Other” prey (white) recorded were Jack mackerel and non-fish prey was krill and bristle worms.
Anchovy (blue) were the most important prey with some Pilchard (red) also recorded. Tuna (green) became important. Needlefishes (light blue) and Pacific saury (pink) were recorded. “Other” species (white) included Jack mackerel, Smooth leatherjacket, Garfish and Snapper, and krill was the only non-fish prey detected.
Anchovies (blue) and Pilchard (red) were important. “Other” species (white) was Jack mackerel. The only non-fish species found was krill.
