Anchovies (blue) and cooler-water Sprat (red), Tarakihi (orange), Cockabullies (Triplefins – yellow), Blue warehou (pink), and Morey eels (brown) were the most important prey families. Lanternfishes also occurred (light green, not visible in pie chart). “Other” prey species (white) were Inanga, Ahuru, Yellow-eyed mullet, Garfish, Kahawai and Thornfish. Non-fish prey were Salps and Jellyfish.
Most of the prey was Warehous (pink). Also recorded was Tarakihi (dark yellow), Cockabullies ( Triplefins, bright yellow), Slender sprat (red). Not visible in the pie chart were Needlefishes (light blue), Morey eels (brown) and Barracouta (grey). “Other” prey (white) were Jellyfish, krill, Arrow squid, Whitebait, Ahuru, Seahorse, Bonnetmouth, and witch.
