2025/26 year
In this sample from Haulashore Island, Anchovies (blue), Pilchard (red), and Barracouta (grey) were found. The “other” prey (white) was mostly a family that had not crossed the 10% RRA threshold so far but got close in this sample: Halfbeaks (Hemiramphidae) identified to species: Garfish (or piper) or takeke (Hyporhamphus ihi). Other fish recorded was Hoki and no non-fish prey was recorded.
In this sample from Haulashore Island Anchovies (blue) dominated. Also recorded were Pilchard (red), extralimital Needlefishes (light blue), extralimital Pacific Saury (pink), Barracouta (dark grey), Warehous (dark pink), and Halfbeaks (light pink). “Other” prey (white) were Gelata (Cnidarians and Tunicates), Gould’s squid, Sandfish, Red Cod and Snapper.
2024/25 year
The sample from Wakefield Quay had a low sequence. Anchovy (blue) and Pilchard (red) were the most important species. Barracouta (grey), Warehou (pink) were also recorded. The non-fish prey was Northern arrow squid.
This sample from Haulashore Island contained Anchovies (blue) and Pilchard (red). The only “other” (white) prey found was Yelloweye mullet.
